While CIVA validation tests are constantly being performed, a specific effort has been done by the CEA and EXTENDE teams in the period 2010-2017 in comparing a lot of simulation results obtained by CIVA UT (and also ET and RT) with experimental trials. These results (published on our website and also in different conference papers) give credit to the accuracy of CIVA models in many situations.

The goal of this work was also to highlight the discrepancies observed when reaching the limitations of semi-analytical models, so that users can be aware about validity domains of CIVA.

Release after release, CIVA includes new features but also new models.

In particular, new FEM models have been integrated recently in CIVA UT, which lead us to update some of our validation works in order to evaluate the improvement brought by these new models. Take a look at our website to update your knowledge about CIVA accuracy and limitations!

03.302022Compatibility has been enhanced between CIVA & CIVA Analysis 2021 and Olympus systems and probes!Category "CIVA Software" | No comment

Several years after becoming compatible with *rdt, *.oud and *.opd data files from Olympus, CIVA Analysis 2021 can now read acquisitions performed with Olympus Omniscan X3 systems (*.odat extension).

This lets users of the latest technologies from Olympus benefit from the advantages of powerful features such as the 3D view, the identification of indications by the efficient segmentation algorithm, as well as the large capability to automate and customize the analysis process available in CIVA Analysis, plus many other features. The image above shows an example of an acquisition data file including PA UT compound channels and a TOFD channel.

CIVA 2021 also now includes seven DLA and DMA Olympus probes in its probe manufacturers' library, simplifying the definition of probe parameters for an Inspection Simulation in CIVA. This leads to a catalogue with more than 150 Olympus probes ready to use for simulations in CIVA and a total of about 300 probes from various manufacturers in this catalogue! Of course, users can still define any type of probe as soon as they know the parameters from a datasheet.

All UT probe and system suppliers are very welcome to contact us if they are interested in having their data files compatible with CIVA or to include their probes in CIVA, the leading NDT simulation software and the unique Multi-Format UT analysis software!
